Internship topic:

Empirical analysis of ATM cash withdrawal data of April 2026 to estimate the cash-out flows associated with withdrawals from Lithuania’s second-pillar pension system. The project involves building time-series models to isolate pension-related withdrawal effects from seasonal and calendar-driven patterns, and examining how these flows correlate to regional socio-demographic and economic characteristics such as age structure, urbanization, unemployment, and household composition, among others.

Tasks:

• Data cleaning and preparation for analysis.

• Collecting socio-demographic characteristics from official statistical sources.

• Merging data across datasets.

• Data visualization.

• Analyzing and presenting data into a short report.

• Formulating hypotheses for causal analysis.

Requirements:

• Study field in economics (at least a second-year student).

• High quality research and analytical skills with some economic intuition.

• Ability to collect and analyze data with some experience of R.
